Status of Giardia Infection with Other Intestinal Parasites among Paediatric Patients in Tertiary Medical College Hospitals

Background: Paediatric diarrhoea, the burning issue of nowadays, drastically affects child mortality and morbidity. Apart from virus bacteria, parasites also play an important role in causing diarrhoea at that age group. Giardiasis, most prevalent among parasitic infections, though neglected yet carries significance because its long term health issues. The aim study was to identify intestinal by wet mount preparation further detection flagellated protozoan parasite, Giardia special staining - Trichrome technique.
 Materials methods: It observational cross sectional which carried between periods July 2019 June 2020, where a total 200 diarrhoeic patients up 18 years were enrolled. Direct microscopic method done detected stainning performed for Giardia. 
 Results: Out faecal samples, cysts Giardia, ova Ascaris Lumbricoides (AL) Trichuris Trichiura (TT) both AL TT identified 2.5%, 1.5%, 0.5% 1.0% samples respectively preparation. By we 3.5% cysts.
 Conclusion: Staining technique could be applied addition stool samples. So recover undetected cyst aforesaid samples.
